What is the difference between Sanguinarius.org and the Sanguinarium?
Sanguinarius.org for Real Vampires / Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page (www.sanguinarius.org) was founded online in 1997 by Sanguinarius and is not a membership organization but provides resources, articles and information for, by, and about real vampires and the vampire community. Originally it was published on AOL, and became "Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page" after a brief time as merely "The Homepage of Sanguinarius". Before the days of the Internet, in the late '80s and early '90s, Sanguinarius operated offline within the realm of vampire fandom and penpal lists, attempting to find and unite real vampires.
Sanguinarius provides support, information, resources and community for real vampires, blood drinkers and vampiric people, as well as donors. It offers informational articles on a variety of subjects, including blood, feeding, safety and health precautions, psychic shielding techniques, and various social aspects that today's real vampires face. Part of the support page includes "Problems Vampires Have", to let visitors see that they are not alone in what they are going through, and "Fun Vampires Have", which displays the lighter side of being a vampire.
Sanguinarius is home to The Real Vampire Directory, a search engine and directory of real vampire sites, information, and resources. Sanguinarius provides interactive support, including the Vampiric Community Message Board, which contains much additional information that may not be included on the webpage, questions posted by visitors, and various ongoing discussions on a variety of topics. #Sanguinarius, an IRC channel on dal.net, provides an online community gathering spot where guests can meet and chat in real time, ask questions, hold discussions, or get support. Also provides The Vampiric Community Events Calendar, where users can view and post events of interest to the vampiric community: online chats, offline Gatherings, meet'n'greets, and other vampire-related events.
The Sanguinarium (www.sanguinarium.net) was and is a network, community and resource for the vampyre subculture and scene and was founded in 1995 as Clan Sabretooth in New York's underground club scene. It has expanded to include organizations, businesses, havens and individual members who are united under a code of ethics and morality known as The Black Veil (a.k.a. The Thirteen Rules of the Community). Although officially disbanded as an actual organization in, I believe, 2001 or 2002, the Sanguinarium continues to exist in practice. Anyone, including individuals and Houses, using the terminology and concepts provided by the founders, movers and shakers of the Sanguinarium is considered by them to be a part of the Sanguinarium, and now the Strigoii Vii.
Father Sebastiaan (formerly known as Father Todd or Father Sebastian) operates the Vampyre Almanac, which produces and promotes many club events, publishes and promotes various documents and books, and provides publicity for the Vampyre subculture and BDSM/fetish scene, often mingling the two to provide a unique aesthetic.
The newest venture to hit the scene is the Ordo Strigoii Vii (OSV), which is a dark spiritual pathway and Vampyric religion designed for the Vampyre subculture. The OSV is a recognized church in Amsterdam and is supported by the Church of Satan (CoS). (More information pending.)
