Problems Vampires Have, Page 20
This has problems pertaining to dealing with "everyday" (everynight?) things for real vampires. It can get in a light vein, but I would prefer it to be mainly enlightening (jeez, can I quit with these day puns, already???) as to actual problems that vampires have to deal with on a day-to-day (aaarrrggghhh!!!) basis.
I live in the so-called "Bible Belt states" and this has caused a serious problem for me. There are these kids who think they know I'm a vampire and have been "hunting" me for a while now. I have been unable to secure their identities so I can't press charges. I go for walks at night and sometimes they find me and proceed to chase me down. I'm way too fast and sneaky for them, but I'm afraid to stop and just say, "Hey, what do you want?" They called the police on me and reported that I was assaulting people and stealing blood from blood banks. The cops couldn't find anything (there wasn't anything to find) so they let me go with the words, "We'll be keeping an eye on you." I asked them who reported me, but they said, "Let's leave them out of this, welp." *sigh* No more walks for me...
I had a problem over the summer because I was working with children. Apart from them occasionally hurting themselves and bleeding and coming to me to get a plaster and a hug, and also getting my bloodlust going, I had a problem with the fact that because they are so innocent, it is impossible to pull the wool over their eyes.
I have a few scars on my arm and wrists and as my work shirt was short-sleeved, I'd normally wear a fishnet to hide them. Until I forgot one day. Most of them didn't notice and to those that did, I said that I got a tattoo removed and squirmed out of the awkward questions that followed. But there was one girl there who I got to know very well. She was into rock music and paganism!! She was so cool. We spent a lot of time together chatting about stuff, and a few of the others would join us. Someone mentioned Buffy and suddenly we were talking about what we would do if we were vampires (she would go and find Spike and settle down happily ever after, lol). Through this conversation, that happened several times, and she kept looking at me as though she knew. She also put two and two together about the scars on my arm without me saying a word to her. But it wasn't just her.
Because there was freedom with how I could dress, I wore, apart from the shirt, what I usually wear: black and eyeliner. During the first few days, lots of the kids questioned if I "was a goth?". Just to be easy and avoid long explanations, I said I was and they all reacted differently, but one of the popular questions was, "So, are you, like, into vampires and stuff?". As I got to know tham, over the weeks they all treated me differently to the other playleaders; I'm convinced that some of them knew what I was, especially the girl I got to know. And it's not just the children I know that act differently -- children in the street look at me funny, not scared or alarmed or anything; they look intrigued, as though they are trying to figure me out. And when you are working with them, you really don't want them to work you out.
I am a recently awakened vampire at the young age of 14, and my main problem is school. With the noisy screaming people and the flourecent lights, I always get very bad headaches, and I get very irritable. Of course, I scare everybody at my school and they do suspect me of being a vampire. But what they don't know is that I'm always draining them as they're hissing or pointing at me.
Anyways, the other day at school we had a fire drill. Of course we had to evacuate out the closest doors and the fire alarm was right beside my head. The lights and the yelling kids and the bell all mixed together, creating a very huge headache and I puked because of all the stress; I hurled as soon as we got outside. That really sucked.
My mother thinks that I need glasses because of the constant migraines and because I'm usually in my room (bless my thick, dark curtains). She doesn't know that I am what I am, although it really wouldn't surprise her. I'm wiccan and she knows about it, and she was accepting of it, but if I walked up to her and said something like, "Hey, Mom...I'm a vampire and I steal peoples energy!", she would probably sign me up for even more psychotherapy. Heh..but yeah...damn school and those whiney, little kids. Grrr.
I hate people that make fun of other vampires when they, themselves, are vampires. To the person that just posted the F****** post of stupid Hot Topic kids [on the message board], respect your fellow vampires. Don't worry, I won't track you down and steal you dog. I was reading this stupid post of stupid Hot Topic kids, and I got insulted because I myself am a teen and am out of the coffin; that's what I call it when a person is open about being a vampyre. I don't like vampyre movies or books or getting to much from Hot Topic or plastic fangs. The more the people recognise us, the more they understand, and the more they understand, the more they respect. Sanguinarius, now I understand how you feel about Father Sebastian. I love you, Sanguinarius. I'm your Number 1# Fan.

Eerie America TV Series
Eerie America could very well be called The Fodors Travel Guidebook for The Addams Family. I read some in-depth information about the show and saw the promo, and from what I can tell, this will be an absolutely AWESOME series if they can get it off the ground. (I'm actually praying they will.) Let others know and see who can help. This is something that should happen! Let's pull together and make it so!
